Communications Consultant - International
Gizalem has been part of the MCN family for more than ten years. Beginning as an inspiration and evolving into a key participant in the future of the MCN Foundation.
It began when Amanda Valeur, Founder of MCN Healthcare, joined a friend in supporting one student at the Ethiopian Education Foundation. That student was Gizalem. Amanda also supported Gizalem’s decision to care for and educate his sister, and her infant son, while still completing his own education.
Amanda’s extensive travels to India and many countries in Africa, in addition to her experiences with this young family, inspired the creation of the MCN Foundation.
Gizalem has a B.sc in Civil Engineering and an M.sc in Water Supply and Environmental Engineering, both degrees in areas of great potential impact for community development.
In addition to his technical knowledge Gizalem brings significant onsite experience, in both engineering and construction, to the skills MCN Foundation can contribute to projects.
He currently serves as the Programme Director Ethiopia for the Ethiopian Education Foundation, Communications Consultant – International for the MCN Foundation and is a Customer Experience Specialist – International for MCN Healthcare.
Gizalem currently lives in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, with his sister and her young son Valeur.
