Kenya

Summary

A nonprofit located in Bungoma, Kenya, Africa, focusing on improving the livelihood of rural women and children. The goal is sustainable development with a focus on children empowerment. The current programs are children’s education, women’s development, and sexual and reproductive health and family planning.

The organization has sponsored 56 children with 34 boys and 22 girls. Many children are orphans and picked up on the street by the police or taken from a physically abusive home. The school fees vary from school to school according to the fee structures. Children have been out of school due to the COVID-19 and there have been many changes due to graduations, dropouts due to family circumstances, lack of funding and many girls becoming pregnant due to being trapped in lockdown with no support or protection from abuse.

Our Support

In addition to covering the cost of their education WWB-K covers some further needs. Examples of the items the children receive from their fundraising are sheets, bed nets, pairs of shoes, socks, textbooks and body wash. We are very excited to have the opportunity to work with Women Without Borders – Kenya and we hope to assist in fulfilling the needs these children desperately deserve.

Our Support

We provided Shofco with numerous items for the school and kids: from computers to graphic material; from paints to books; from magnetic boards and letters to jump-ropes amongst other items. We also offered free education from our infection control courses and courses to educate the public on Malaria prevention. We hope to continue to provide Shofco with such support and are grateful for any donation towards that goal.
