Providing Healthcare Education to Clinics – Ghana

MCN Foundation > Providing Healthcare Education to Clinics – Ghana

In many rural areas of countries like Ghana, the population suffers from limited medical resources. A particular rare resource is a well trained nurse, who in such areas often acts practically as the only trained medical staff for all. These nurses cannot keep up to date with new medical procedures or further their training as their presence is required locally and are unable to travel to the main cities for education and practice training.

In 2012 we launched a complete access to web-based healthcare education and skill building for two remote clinics in rural Ghana. By partnering with the Ghana Health Service, Klikor Health Centre and Akatsi District Hospital in 2012, we provided them with laptops, internet access, tools the platform educational material, and training developed by MCN Learning which they started using with great enthusiasm.

We are particularly proud of our free online resource center. Participants in developing countries across the world can log in and find freely available training resources for healthcare professionals and para-professionals. We firmly believe that this valuable tool will directly and positively impact the quality of care in communities around the globe.

“By partnering with the Ghana Health Service, Klikor Health Centre and Akatsi District Hospital we have begun to use the educational materials and platform developed by MCN Learning with great enthusiasm,” Valeur added.

MCN Foundation is funded by supporters and donors interested in supporting the mantra of “More Care Now” in developing countries. Thanks to donor support, MCN Foundation provides valuable online education and training to healthcare workers in very rural and disadvantaged communities
