EEF turns street children into university graduates because they believe that education is the way out of poverty.
EEF is an effective child sponsorship program, that produces measurable and sustainable results year after year without wasting any money on administration.
They started in 2004 and have achieved some amazing results, for example, 19 of their students are now medical doctors across Ethiopia. Some further stats can be found here, and some here.

The region of Gambella, bordering South Sudan, has been identified as one of the most deprived areas in Ethiopia. Large numbers of refugee camps are located near the town and the situation is particularly dire for over 200,000 refugee children, as they have no future prospects at all.

Over the past few years EEF have already selected some five students from this region who we brought to Addis Ababa to join the programme. They have successfully integrated and one of them is currently applying for a scholarship at New York University. Another has strong enough grades to study medicine at university next year.

Student Sponsorship

Sponsoring a student with EEF is a most effective way of providing a life-changing opportunity for a deserving youngster in one of the most deprived countries in the world.

As this is a long-term investment, we need to ask our sponsors to make a multi-year commitment. Sponsorship should cover at least high school (4 or 5 years) but most of our sponsors continue to support their students also during the university years.
